Developed from Pre-Mac's highly successful PWP, Model MWP is designed to meet requirements where size and weight are critical. A highly compact unit, MWP uses the proven Pre-Mac system to provide safe drinking water from contaminated sources by elimination of pathogenic organisms - bacteria, viruses and cysts.
In operation the source water is initially filtered, cleaning the water and removing organic matter as well as chemical contamination. This is followed by disinfection using an iodine-resin complex which acts as a contact microbiocide but also releases a low level of iodine into the water for secondary disinfection. Secondary disinfection occurs during the recommended holding period.
The MWP is convenient to use and will produce 1 litre of water in 5 minutes. The rated capacity of MWP is 200-250 litres, it is a very quick and simple operation to replace the filtration and disinfection tubes which requires no tools.
The effectiveness of MWP has been proven in tests carried out by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. In these total elimination of the bacteria Eschedria coli at 108.5 per litre was recorded whilst reductions of Poliovirus in excess of 99.9%, with a holding time of 3 minutes, were recorded. It was also shown that this effectiveness was unimpaired after treating 200-250litres of water.
Tests carried out by the RAF Institue of Pathology and Tropical Medicine complete effectiveness against different genera of bacteria. This effectiveness was also shown to be maintained at twice the nominal capacity, i.e. MWP was still effective after treating 400 litres of water. It was concluded that MWP could be used in field conditions with confidence. |
