Military Water Purifiers

Pre-Mac water treatment, storage and distribution systems, range from hand-held units for individual use, through to bulk water treatment systems for small/large groups and company deployments (camps).  For nearly two decades Pre-Mac units have been the preferred choice of UK MoD and NATO forces worldwide e.g. Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Water is an essential requirement for human survival and the provision of safe drinking water is of particular importance to Armed Forces and Law Enforcement. Under operational conditions personnel will largely be dependent upon making use of available water sources in the field. Waterborne diseases will render the most highly trained and well equipped unit ineffective and the cost of subsequent hospitalisation is significant. This loss of manpower is a particular problem in forward areas, jungle conditions or covert operations where normal supply systems cannot operate. Water is a heavy, bulky item to transport any distance so that the availability of effective on-site treatment of water is therefore essential and can be a major factor in the success or failure of operations.

Purification on naturally occurring water sources requires both filtration and disinfection. Filtration is necessary to remove organic matter that will otherwise reduce the efficiency of subsequent disinfection and to clean the water in terms of appearance, taste and odour. Disinfection to eliminate pathogenic organisms (bacteria, viruses and cysts) is essential to provide water which is safe for human consumption. The effectiveness of Pre-Mac water purifiers has been proven in extensive laboratory tests and military field trials. They are in service with Armed Forces throughout the world, as well as Emergency Aid and International Rescue Organisations throughout the world. Pre-Mac water purifiers are classified within the NATO codification system.
